Sacramento Republic Last Match Summary (v LA Galaxy, US Open Cup):
Sacramento Republic was eliminated from the US Open Cup against LA Galaxy on Wednesday night, the second last USL team in the competition. Taking a different tactic to FC Cincinnati’s famous win earlier in the night, Republic started the match looking to get an early goal.
In the end LA Galaxy took it to Sacramento in the second half, but Sacramento did well despite the defeat and showed their strength, showing signs of their improved league form in recent weeks but they just couldn’t take down LA Galaxy.
Statistical Note: Lee Johnston became the fourth goalkeeper used by San Antonio FC, and this weekend will, presumably, see a fifth goalkeeper named to a match day squad, and the first time San Antonio FC have added a fourth goalkeeper on their squad in a season.
Key to the Match: Lee Johnston is also the key to the match, he’s only played a few minutes as a professional goalkeeper and as such Sacramento should try and test him early. This is all unless Matt Cardone has a miraculous recovery over the week.
Prediction: Sacramento Republic 1 San Antonio FC 2
