Houston Dynamo’s winless road run continued on Sunday night as they fell to a 1-0 loss against Seattle Sounders at Century Link Field.
It was a case of revenge for Will Bruin who scored the only goal of the match to get revenge over his former club. Cristian Roldan sent in a cross in to the box finding Bruin who scored thanks to a powerful header.
That goal came in the 69th minute with Seattle’s first shot on target continuing Seattle’s trend from the MLS Cup final last year of not needing shots on target to win matches. Despite that Seattle Sounders were dominant throughout the match and certainly deserved their win.
In the 13th minute Houston Dynamo could well have opened the scoring after some good interplay from Erick Torres and Andrew Wenger. Torres and Wenger managed a give and go on the right side of the pitch which played Torres in on goal only for his shot to be denied by a strong Stefan Frei save.
Just four minutes later the roles changed, Seattle had a strong chance only to be denied by Tyler Deric in the Houston goal. Joevin Jones hit a cross-cum-shot which forced a strong save out of Deric to keep the match scoreless.
After going behind Houston started to really push looking for an equalizer to get back in to the match and had two good late chances. With three minutes to play Alberth Elis was played through by Mauro Manotas but sent his shot across the face. After stoppage time Manotas got completely free and shot powerfully but Frei smothered the shot well, holding on to the 1-0 win for Seattle.
