Houston Dash has managed their first road win of the year as a Kealia Ohai managed a 1-0 win over Washington Spirit at Maryland SoccerPlex on Saturday afternoon.

That goal came in the 28th minute after a pass from Denise O’Sullivan on the left wing, creating space for Ohai. She made a good run along the sideline, allowing him to cut inside. Creating space in the box, allowing her to beat Stephanie Lebbe with a shot at the far post.

Dash started the match well as they had the early pressure, pressing the Spirit defense well. Just four minutes in to the match Ohai forced a strong save out of Labbe, she cut inside and shot from the edge of the box which was well saved by Labbe.

Another four minutes later Janine Beckie and Rachel Daly linked up well to create a strong opportunity. Daly was able to get a shot away but it just missed the goal to keep it scoreless. But Dash didn’t have to wait long as the goal came in the 28th minute which would be the last clear chance of the first half.

In the second half, Houston had another good opportunity as yet again Labbe made a strong save with Daly’s long range effort forcing her in to a good save. Dash goalkeeper Lydia Williams was called upon in the 68th minute to make a strong save as Shelina Zadorsky got away a close range header which Williams got to quickly.

Two minutes from time Dash could have doubled their lead as Ohai got through one-on-one with Labbe. But again Labbe was able to do well getting down to put a hand on the ball, denying Ohai space to take a shot, but it mattered little as they managed a 1-0 win.
