Houston Dynamo has kept their first clean sheet of the 2017 season as they managed a 2-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes at BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday night.
It took just nine minutes for Houston Dynamo to open the scoring as Alex made a run in to the box and was then brought down for a penalty. That allowed Erick Torres to step up and send his penalty right down the middle as David Bingham moved out of the way, allowing Torres to extend his lead at the top of the MLS golden boot standings.
After a long break Houston Dynamo were able to finally seal the match in the 72nd minute thanks to a corner. Eric Alexander sent in the corner which Alberth Elis was able to run on to and redirect in to the back of the net.
The Houston Dynamo defense did well to keep San Jose out as they were looking dangerous throughout much of the match following conceding early. Joe Willis was doing strongly in the Houston Dynamo goal as he was able to make strong saves throughout the match.
By far the most impressive shot came in the 16th minute through Torres who was able to get on the end of a cross and attempt a bicycle. He was able to get his foot to the ball and send it to goal but it just managed to go over the bar.
Late in the match Dynamo could well have made it three with the most likely chance coming with four minutes to play. Juan David Cabezas was able to find space and hit a powerful shot which could only find the bar, but it didn’t matter, as Dynamo won the match 2-0.
