After a strong two goal performance, Jordyn Lacy won the Confrerence USA Offensive Player of the Week award. The award was given by the league office on Monday afternoon, on the back of UTSA’s 3=1 win over Middle Tennessee.
The Roadrunners overcame a 1-0 deficit against the Blue Raiders on Saturday evening at Park West in their only match of the week. Lacy was vital in that, managing a brace as she lead UTSA to the victory in her first ever Conference USA match.
Lacy scored the equalizer in the 15th minute after an early goal gave the Blue Raiders the lead, and that goal helped push the Roadrunners forward. That goal gave the Roadrunners momentum which they used to take the lead.
In the second half Lacy scored her second goal and was credited with the game winner in the 53rd minute. That second goal held up to give UTSA a 3-1 win, which gave them their first ever win in a Conference USA opener and their fifth ever league opening win.
The award is the first time that Lacy has won a weekly honor from Conference USA and she joins her class mate Katieann Lochte. Lochte won the first Offensive Player of the Week award in August 22nd after her first ever collegiate match.
